Geralle National Park was primarily established to conserve endangered wildlife species including Gerenuk, Giraffe, and Elephants. Over 42 mammals and 250 bird species are known to occur. The park consists of savanna, woodlands, and open shrublands.
The Park has a road connection with Addis Ababa 600 km to Negele-Borena, 120 grave roads from Negele-Borena to Udet, park headquarters, a distance of 713 km southeast on the main Negele-Borena Road, and 753 via Mega. The most commonly used route into the park is Udet gate, headquarter, 120 km from Negele-Borena town. The Park has four-wheel drive roads but most parts of the park are inaccessible. Due to its remoteness only recommended self-contained potential campsites in the national park.
