Alitash National Park, also called Alatish or Alatash National Park, is a nationally designated park in the Amahara region of Ethiopia adjacent to Sudan’s Dinder National Park. It was established in 2006 and derives its name from the Alatash River which has its source in the park and flows to Sudan.
The Park has an asphalt and gravel road connection via Bahir Dar, a distance of 1027 km Northwest of Addis Ababa on the main Bahir Dar- Gondar- Metema- Gelegu road, 300 km west of Gondar town, 462 km from Bahir Dar; this is the very recommended route. There is also an option via Bahir Dar- kunzela-Shawura- Gelegu, 265 km from Bahir Dar. The Park has inadequate Motor-able roads that make most parts of the park inaccessible. There are only Satellite camping grounds available in the park and if you intend to stay overnight, you need to bring camping equipment; ordinary Hotels are also there in the nearby towns of Quara and Metema.
